What are HMPE ropes?

High Modulus PolyEthylene (HMPE) rope is one of the strongest, most durable and innovative ropes on the market today. The rope is made of high-modulus polyethylene. The HMPE ropes are impregnated with durable coating to reduce abrasion and extend the service life.

The extraordinary features and extreme strenght of HMPE ropes is a reason for using it as frequent substitute to steel wire/steel ropes. The HMPE ropes go through a special heat and UV resistance treatment.

They have an extremely low friction coefficient and highly reduce  operation costs. Additionally, they offer much safer handling solution compared to a standard steel ropes.

These fibres are used in body armour personal and vehicle armour, cut-resistant gloves and clothing, climbing equipment, fishing line, spear lines for spearguns and bow strings, suspension lines on sport parachutes and paragliders, kites, and kites lines for kites sports.

It is used for lifting slings and cables. Spun fibres excel as fishing line, as they have less stretch, are more abrasion-resistant, and are thinner than traditional monofilament line. Special knots and fastening techniques are often recommended.

Also used as a rip-stop reinforcement for luggage fabric, and as fishing and fish farming nets.
